The seasons of the church year provide wonderful opportunities to bring the stories of faith into our homes. Advent allows us to prepare for the 4 weeks before Christmas, Lent gives us 40 days to look inward and the 50 days of the Easter season encourages us to celebrate Jesus resurrection and wonder at the love that God has for each of us. The images of eggs, flower bulbs, and caterpillars and butterflies all point us to the life that God has hidden in each of us and will burst forth at the right time.

Book:
The Very Hungry Caterpillar
by Eric Carle

Activity:
Take a walk and look for signs of spring. See if you can find buds on the trees or new growth sprouting from the ground. See if the hardware store has newly hatched chicks. Point out that new life sometimes comes from unexpected places.

Prayer:
Dear God
Thank you for growing things.
Help me to take care of living things like____________________.
Amen.
