Cozy storytelling time

1/5/2017

January is a time for settling in. The sparkle of the Christmas decorations is replaced with hats, gloves, and jackets draped over chairs and drying until the next foray into the cold. It is a time to get cozy and tell some stories. Every child loves to hear stories about themselves and the people they know. So here are some ideas for taking a trip down memory lane. Memories of your child’s baptism (and your baptism) are tucked away safely; now is the time to take them out and tell the story.

Book
My Baptism Book, by Sophie Piper

Activity
Find anything that relates to a baptism in your family: photos, a baptismal gown, gifts, and the baptismal certificate. Tell the story of why it was important to you that your child was baptized. Use one item a night and tell part of the story.

Prayer
Dear God,
Thank you that You love me and that I am your child.
Thank you for the people that love me, especially__________________.
Thank you for _________________.
Amen.

Say the Lord’s prayer together
